Thoughts On “Custody Case Tinged by Politics”
As with all mainstream reports (CNN, CBS) the Journal’s story is missing relevant facts known to most people in Nashville:
Chris Savoie had been in Japan 14 years, married for 8, a naturalized Japanese citizen for 4. Noriko Savoie and their children are all Japanese citizens, natives.
Noriko Savoie previously requested a chris daughtry divorce in Japan, and was refused. Chris Savoie moved to the US early in 2008, persuaded Noriko to join him with the children 6 months later. The day after she got off the plane, she was handed divorce papers.
Two days after she got off the plane, she was ordered to surrender her and the childrens’ passports, in spite of breaking no US or other laws.
The divorce was finalized in December 2008, and Chris Savoie married his second wife, Amy, in January 2009.
Anyone who believes this should be a test case for the Hague conventions, or any other fathers’ rights actions in foreign countries, is a stooge.
